The last journal is like... 5 years old, but since I'm not a big journal writer, and therefore am pretty sure that this one will be outdated very quickly, too, I'm doing something more universal this time.

I just have to think of something.

Oh, I know, maybe a little history of my drawing "career". So, here we go:

I started drawing as a kid and was quite convinced to become a famous painter later in life. That's why I kept all of my drawings and collected them, because I thought it would be interesting for art historians to look at my children's paintings once I'm famous. In my imagination I already saw the banner at the National Gallery: "Kirsten Schwabe - The early works". A lack of self-confidence was sure no problem for me as a kid...

During school I kept drawing, painting and scribbling, like, all the time. The teachers never got, that I *actually* (and that was no lie!) could listen better while scribbling. Because of them not believing me, I got trouble more than once. Art classes were, who would have thought, always my favourite. In high school I decided to pick art as intensive course and it was a great. I always loved to *do* art, but the older I got, the lesser got my inspiration for *what* I should do. That's the reason I loved art classes, because there you always got a clear theme, like "Do a painting about the topic of "Work"", or "Romantic landscape" or whatever. Besides school I did some art classes in my free time, too, such as summer courses or an nude drawing course with my best friend. (Um, we both *attended* the same course together. We didn't draw nudes of each other. In case that was unclear...).
When school came to an end I knew I wanted to do something with art, but, alas!, my self-confidence from the childhood and my inspiration had left me, so I decided against a career as an professional artist and went out to become a conservator and restorer for paintings.

As college went on I drew and painted less, besides works *for* college (like this: Klimt Copy). Friends, studies, parties and a long distance relationship with my (then) boyfriend took it's toll. Nevertheless, I never abandoned drawing altogether and soon one of my other hobbies, pen & paper RPGs, brought me back to work, when I started to draw for a fan magazine for one of the systems (Memoria Myrana). One of my drawings did even get published i a real book! (I just noticed, that I never uploaded that pic, but I will!)

Nowadays I do mostly character portraits of my, and others, RPG characters and paint something for someone's birthday or Christmas. But from time to time the urge still gets me and I paint something, just because. =)
